FVSU LADY WILDCATS DEFEATED BY CLARK ATLANTA

FORT VALLEY, GA – The Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Women's Basketball Team dropped a huge game 60-53 to the visiting Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Lady Panthers Monday evening at the HPE Complex.
 
Nola Carter led the Lady Wildcats with 14-points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Jazmin Williams collected a double-double 11 rebounds, 10-points and blocked four shots. Amiah Height grabbed 11 rebounds, three assists and blocked two shots. Kaylan West added 11-points.
 
CAU was led by Kiyanna Johnson with a game-high 18-points, Marissa Mandledove and I'Nayiah Moore grabbed 11 and 10 rebounds. Naomi Holloway added 13-points.
 
The Lady Panthers outrebound FVSU 59-46, while FVSU outscored CAU with 26-points to 18 in the paint and 23-points to 6 from bench players.
 
CAU scored the first seven points of the game before Carter's layup put FVSU on the scoreboard. FVSU's Height would close the gap to 5 (6-11) with 2:19 on the clock in the first quarter. Then, with 4:13 to go in the second quarter, Franklin was fouled behind the three-point line and went to the foul line for three shots. She made all three free throws to give FVSU a 2 (21-19) advantage. CAU's Holloway's layup tied the game at 21 all with 3:27 left until halftime. The Lady Wildcats went to intermission down 23-26.
 
In the third quarter, the closest the Lady Wildcats would get is nine-points. The Lady Panthers took a 17-point lead 47-30 with 56 seconds left. Fourth quarter, CAU went up by 14 (56-42) with 5:20 remaining, but with 28 seconds to go Keaundra Cox cut the lead to 4 (53-57). It would not be enough as the Lady Panthers took the win 60-53.    
 
FVSU's next game is Saturday, January 20th as they travel to Albany, GA to take on Albany State University in a 4 p.m. contest.
