Fort Valley State University is poised to become one of the fastest growing institutions in the University System of Georgia. With an enrollment of close to 3,000, FVSU is the perfect size for building lifelong ties that reach beyond culture and background – ties that are based on a shared love of learning and a thirst for personal growth. We’re family here. Everyone belongs.
The beautiful campus is located on 1,365 acres in picturesque Peach County. It is a place of exciting change and growth. Small class sizes, an affordable tuition rate, relevant course offerings, accessible professors and administrators – FVSU has everything you want in a college experience including proximity to Georgia cities such as Atlanta, Columbus, Augusta, Albany, Savannah, Valdosta and your hometown.
FVSU is a fully-accredited, comprehensive, four-year institution committed to providing strong academic programs, online courses and extracurricular activities to students. More than 70 student organizations that range from sororities and fraternities to honor societies and student government keep the campus buzzing with activities year round.
The university has the only certified veterinary technology program in the state. A unique partnership with Zoo Atlanta provides future veterinarians hands-on experience in caring for exotic animals. Fort Valley State University’s Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP) teams with major oil and energy companies across the nation to launch the careers of minorities and women in the industry. CDEP, the only program of its kind in the nation, offers dual degrees in math, engineering, chemistry, biology, health physics and geoscience. The master’s degree in mental health counseling is also a signature program in the University System of Georgia and is only offered at FVSU.
Through research conducted at a new, $3.1 million, 8,000 square foot Biotechnology Center, the university will address the world’s need for alternative fuels. The agricultural facility, now under construction, will focus research efforts on plant, animal and applied biotechnology.
FVSU is a leading contender in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II in both men’s and women’s athletic programs. Wildcat football, basketball, tennis, track, volleyball, cross country track and softball are among the 11 sports offered. The Health and Physical Education Complex, the site of sports events and memorable special activities, is rated among the finest in the conference and is equipped with an Olympic-size swimming pool, weight room and indoor track.

Opening in 2009, the third phase of the Wildcat Commons introduces two new apartment-style buildings that will accommodate resident’s needs.
