FORT VALLEY, GA (January 4, 2016) – Fort Valley State (3-10; 2-2) had five players to score in double digests and two of those with double-doubles, as they defeat Central State University (3-7; 1-4) 68-52 Monday night, January 4 at the HPE Complex.
Daknequa White led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 16-points, while making five baskets out of eight from the field and going five of seven from the foul line.
Katice Williams and
Shereba Montgomery each had double-doubles with a game-high 14 rebounds apiece and each adding 12-points.
Jayme Gilbert and
Briunca Caldwell added another 11-point each to the boards.
Lakayra Carlisle led the Lady Marauder with 12-points; Jordyn Bond added 11 and Kourtni Perry grabbed eight rebounds.
FVSU could not made free throws making just fifteen of thirty-nine and twenty-four of fifty-seven baskets from the field. The Lady Wildcats collected fourth-eight rebounds to fourth-seven for CSU.
The Lady Marauder hit nineteen of sixty-two shots from the floor and ten of twenty-seven free throws.
FVSU outscored CSU 32-26 in the paint, 34-18 off turnovers, 15-9 on second chance shots and 22-6 on fast break points.
Next Game: The Lady Wildcats will travel to Mobile, AL to take on Spring Hill College on January 7 at 6:30 p.m., then travel to play Lane College in Jackson, TN on January 9.
