VISION STATEMENT
The Fort Valley State University Sports Medicine Program shall provide injury prevention, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and educational services of recognized excellence to every student-athlete. The Fort Valley State University Sports Medicine team is committed to becoming the leader in sports medicine, education, and research throughout all NCAA Division II Colleges and Universities.
 

MISSION STATEMENT

The underlying philosophy for the Fort Valley Sports Medicine Program, more than anything else, is to have the best interest of our student-athletes as our top priority and first consideration for all members of the Athletic Training Staff and Sports Medicine Team at Fort Valley State University. Our mission is to prevent, evaluate, and treat student-athletes with the highest quality medical care in order to help the student-athletes perform safely at their greatest potential.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Sports Medicine Program at Fort Valley State University is five-fold:

* Allow easy access to sports medicine services to all student-athletes

* Encourage a philosophy of sports that places a high value on health and wellness

* Enable injured student-athletes to return to their sports as soon as medically safe

* Substantially reduce the risk of athletic injuries for those student-athletes at our institution

The Sports Medicine Program will strongly adopt and embrace the concept of "student" first as a core value in order to provide a comprehensive educational experience with quality institution as the hallmark of all its academic programs at Fort Valley State University. Furthermore, we expect the Athletic Trainer(s) who will provide these services to maintain the highest standards of quality consistent with the National Athletic Trainer's Association Code of Professional Practice and the credentialing status for the state of Georgia.

We are committed to ongoing evaluations of our Sports Medicine Program so that our student-athletes can be assured of the highest quality in sports medicine care. This includes the commitment to address problems and concerns in a timely manner so that needs of our student-athletes and employees can be met.

Finally, the Sports Medicine Program at Fort Valley State University aspires to be a program of recognized excellence. It is our intention to support athletics with resources necessary to accomplish the shared goals of the program by being the TEAM behind the TEAMS at Fort Valley State University. In addition, it is our intention to gain support for our program with human and financial resources and support necessary to accomplish the stated goals of this program at Fort Valley State University.
