AUGUSTA, GA (November 21, 2016) – Senior forward
Shekiyah Tarpkins (Social Circle, GA) led the Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats (0-3) in scoring with a game-high 27-points in the 88-93 loss to Paine College in overtime last night at HEAL Complex.
At the end of regulation the score was tied at 79 and in OT the Lady Wildcats managed nine points to Paine's 14. Tarpkins made two free throws to tie the game at 81 with 4:37 remaining, while the team went 1-for-4 from the field, making 7-of-11 foul shots. Paine had two baskets in OT and scored on 10-of-12 free throws.
For the game, FVSU hit 45.3 percent (34-75) from the floor, 36.4 percent (4-11) in three pointers and 50.0 percent (16-32) at the free throw line.
Paine made 28-of-74 (37.8 percent) shots from the field and 29-of-37 (78.4 percent) in foul shots.
Trapkins went 8-for-12 from the field, 2-of-4 in 3-pointers, 9-of-11 at the free throw line, five rebounds, three assist, one blocked shot and six steals in 34 minutes of play. Freshman center
Amber White (Gray, GA) grabbed a team-high nine rebound, scored 10 points, blocked three shots and hit 4-of-4 free throws. Freshman guard

Janisha Wilkerson had 21-points and 17 rebounds for Paine, while Tierra Boykin drained 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Wildcats will host the Jessie A. Brown Memorial Classic on November 25 & 26 at 6 & 8 p.m. on Friday and 1 & 3 p.m. on Saturday at the HPE Complex.
Friday, the Lady Wildcats will play Livingstone College at 6 p.m. and Benedict College and Miles College at 8 p.m., then on Saturday, Miles College will play Livingstone College at 1 p.m. and FVSU and Benedict at 3 p.m.
