FORT VALLEY, GA – Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats played the first of five home games Thursday night at the HPE Complex but came up short losing 68-51 to Benedict College.
FVSU dropped to 0-9 on the season and 0-3 in conference play, while Benedict moved to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the SIAC.
Alicia Franklin led the Lady Wildcats with 14-points while going 2-for-2 at the free throw line.
Nola Carter grabbed seven rebounds and scored nine points.
Jurnee Powell added eight points,
Keaundra Cox and
Kaylan West hit seven and six points.
Antonia Jones and
Amiah Height scored five and two points apiece.
Raven Baker and Shirvel Luke led Benedict with 17-points each. Ay'Anna Bey and Andresha Smith grabbed eight rebounds each.
The Lady Wildcats never led in the game but tied the game early. FVSU shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the floor, hit 22.2 percent (4-of-18) 3-pointers and made 83.3 percent (5-of-6) free throws. FVSU outscored Benedict 28-12 in the paint while getting 22-points off turnovers.
FVSU's next game is Saturday, December 2 at 1 pm as they take on the Lady Panthers of Claflin University at the HPE Complex.
