FAIRFIELD, AL –
Nola Carter scored a game-high 29-points for the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State (FVSU) in their 67-57 non-conference loss Monday evening to the Lady Bears of Miles College (MC) at the Knox-Windham Gym.
The Lady Wildcats fell to 3-18 on the season, while MC improves to 5-11.
Carter had four rebounds, two assists while hitting 11-of-15 shots from the field and making 7-of-11 free throws.
Kaylan West grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, scored nine-points and sank 5-of-8 foul shots.
Alicia Franklin added 12-points and
Jazmin Williams had six rebounds and two blocks.
Jalin Moye came off the bench to block four shots.
Jasmine Hollis led MC with 24-points and Taylor Terry had a double-double 12 boards and 11-points. Darika Chelsey added 15-points.
MC out rebounded FVSU 42-41 while forcing 20 turnovers. The Lady Bears took advantage by scoring 24-points off turnovers and both teams ended with 28-points in the paint. The big difference came with MC outscoring FVSU 28-0 in points from bench players. The Teams tied three times during the game and lead changed four times.
The Lady Wildcats largest lead of six-points came in the first quarter with 6:39 left, while Miles led by 23-points with 4:16 left in the third quarter.
FVSU's next game is on the road in Orangeburg, SC., on Saturday, January 27 as they play Claflin University at 1 p.m.
