FVSU Has 71 Athletes Earn 2018-19 SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, Four Wildcats to All-Academic Teams

ATLANTA, Ga. – As part of a record number of 973 student-athletes, Fort Valley State saw 71 Wildcats named to the 2018-19 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner's All-Academic Team, while four other Wildcats garnered SIAC All-Academic Team appearances.

The 71 FVSU student-athletes made the Commissioner's All-Academic Team as they maintained at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2018-19 academic year.

The four FVSU All-Academic Team members – Zaquan Baldwin (football), Nyah Dismukes (women's basketball), Andrew Ziegler (men's basketball) and Zyron Brown (men's track & field) – made their individual sports teams. For consideration, a student-athlete was required to have a 3.2 or higher with the number selected in each sport determined by the number of positions usually involved in that sport.

Across the Conference, there were 33 student-athletes from eight of the league institutions to have a 4.0 grade point average.

Miles College led all league members with five all-academic team awards, while Spring Hill College had four of its teams have the highest team GPA average.
