FVSU and Academy Sports + Outdoors Partners to Donate $1,000 of Holiday Gifts to Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- With Christmas right around the corner, the Wildcats teamed to give area youth a brighter holiday. The Fort Valley State University athletic department and Academy Sports + Outdoors partnered on Thursday afternoon to spread the holiday cheer by donating $1,000 worth of gift to the Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia.

From the Wildcats, Director of Compliance Linda Bell, football coaches Kenneth Ray and DeMonta Prather and Warner Robins native offensive tackle Manny Thompson and Academy Sports' Store Director Wes Mathe loaded up the load of presents for the Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia Unit Director Eric Jackson.

In the donation, items included balls, frisbees, team sports gear, outdoor games, exercise equipment and more.

The FVSU and Academy Sports teamwork comes from the partnership the sports retail company has with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), which focuses on establishing meaningful community initiatives within the SIAC footprint. Specifically, these initiatives look to activate and amplify grassroots efforts, such as youth outreach and mentoring programs, that is inclusive of students-athletes and administrators from across the conference.
