President Paul Jones and the Fort Valley State University family mourn the passing of Mr. Trahmad Wiggins, an FVSU alumni and graduate student in the MS Biotechnology program.

Trahmad was a member of the Wildcats football team from 2015-2018. The Defensive Back/Special Teams player was a part of FVSU's 2016 SIAC Championship Team and the 2017 SIAC Championship Runner-up squad. He played in 29 career games where he registered 24 total tackles and an interception.

"The entire FVSU community mourns the loss of Trahmad as a member of the Wildcat Family," said FVSU President Paul Jones. "From the football field to the graduate program, where he continued his studies working toward his MS in Biotechnology, Trahmad was known as a dedicated researcher and passionate athlete. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in Cuthbert at this time."

Wiggs wasn't just a champion on the football field. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree majoring in Plant Science in 2018, he joined the MS Biotechnology program in the fall of 2018. This summer he completed the course requirement for the master's degree and would have graduated with the Spring/Summer class of 2020.
