SIAC Release
ATLANTA, Ga. –
Following a good building year of the first winning campaign in eight seasons, the Wildcats have the talent in place for more. Diamond Jones will lead the 2021-22 Fort Valley State women's basketball team as she was named to the Preseason All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team, while the team was slated fourth in the East.

The point guard from Clarksville, Tenn., led FVSU to a 6-5 mark in the shortened 2021 season for the first above .500 team finish since a 15-13 mark of the 2012-13 season. The All-SIAC Second Team pick averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 steals in her first Wildcats year. Jones received Black College Sports Network All-American status as she posted a season-high 20 points at Allen University, scored at least 17-plus points five other games and pumped in 24 from 3-point range.

In the team predictions, FVSU garnered fourth in the SIAC East ratings voted on by the league's coaches and athletics communications directors. Defending champion Benedict College was voted to the top position, while Savannah State and Clark Atlanta rounded out the top three.

FVSU returns to the court for the first time on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, in a noon exhibition contest at Georgia Southern.
