Weary Wildcats Fall to Tigers in Exhibition

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – In what was a marathon run of days, the Wildcats had no gas in the tank Saturday afternoon. Playing its fourth game in five days, Fort Valley State could not get its engine going and fell to the defending Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions Benedict College, 79-35, in a women's basketball exhibition.

The visiting Tigers scored the contest's first 20 points in the opening 7:47. The Wildcats bounced back with 12 and 13-point totals in the second and third periods, but they did not have the legs under them for a challenge.

Torri Myers led FVSU, which finished its regular season at 6-5 for the first winning season in eight years, with 12 points on 5-of-11 attempts and seven rebounds. Jah'ne Brown chipped in nine points and Diamond Jones had seven.

Amiya Allen added three points, while Ja'Nya Ferguson grabbed six rebounds to go with one bucket. Kelsey Smikes connected on her lone shot.

Both Ay'Anna Bey and Keondra Archie netted 15 points for the Benedict high scorers.
