Dr. Renae Myles Payne Named Athletic Administrator of the Year by Black Student-Athlete Summit

LOS ANGELES – The 2023 Black Student-Athlete Summit powered by Playfly, was held May 21-24 on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC). The Wildcats were well represented by two student-athletes, Makayla Cruz-Vazquez (Softball) and Tyler Pendergrass (Men's Basketball) and Director of Athletics, Dr. Renae Myles Payne.

During the Tuesday session the Summit held an awards ceremony honoring faculty, staff, and student-athletes who have supported the mission of BSA Summit on their respective campuses. Dr. Renae was the recipient of the 2023 Athletic Administrator of the Year Award.

"She has been a force for good in the lives of black student-athletes from Miami to Fort Valley and all stops in between. We just wanted to honor her and her commitment to the holistic development of black student-athletes," said Dr. Leonard Moore, Founder & Executive Director of Black Student-Athlete Summit.

"I am humbled to be selected for this honor. I have been a supporter of the BSA Summit for several years. Leonard's passion for these student-athletes across the country is infectious. You can't help but want to be apart of what he's doing when you talk to him and when you attend the Summit," said Dr. Renae.

The BSA Summit is the only event of its kind that caters to the holistic development of the Black Student-Athlete. Over 1400 student-athletes, professionals, and sports industry influencers were on hand for the 4-day event. For more information about the BSA Summit visit www.bsasummit.org.
