FVSU Places 83 Wildcats on 2022-23 SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team

ATLANTA, Ga. – Heading into the fall, the Wildcats had a large group who hit the books in the classroom last academic year. Fort Valley State placed 83 Wildcats on the 2022-23 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner's All-Academic Team announced on Friday.

The SIAC saw a record-high 1,650 student-athletes be named to the Commissioner's All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2022-23 academic year.

FVSU had seven of its 12 athletic programs put seven or more on the All-Academic Team. Both the football and women's track & field squads led the way with 14 and 10 student-athletes.

The Wildcat women's basketball and softball teams recorded solid years in the classroom with nine student-athletes apiece, which accounts for over half of their rosters. Both the men's and women's volleyball teams accounted for eight Commissioner's All-Academic Team spots each. Men's track and field also put seven team members on the team.
