JACKSON, TN.- Fort Valley State University Women's Basketball concluded the 2024-25 season with a 42-28 loss to Lane College in the opening round of the Southern Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC) Tournament, Saturday afternoon.
The Dragons jumped out front early in the first quarter outscoring the Wildcats 13-1. FVSU scored 12 points to Lane's 14 in the second quarter trailing 27-13 going into the half. Fort Valley outpaced Lane in the third quarter 6-2. The Dragons put up their third double-digit scoring quarter with 13 points while FVSU added nine in the fourth. Lane moves on to the SIAC quarter finals next week.
Marley Bell was the Wildcat leading scorer with a nine point contest. She went 3-for-6 from the floor. Aaniya Allen had the second most Wildcat points with six including a 4-for-4 performance from the free throw line.
Arieonna Booker rounded out the Fort Valley scoring leaders with a 50 percent game from the floor good for six points.
Ja'Nya Ferguson led the rebounding effort for FVSU with four boards on the afternoon.
Camryn Oneill and Bell added three each to round out the rebounding leaders.
On the opposition's side, Chantoryia Rivers led the Dragons in both points and rebounds with 10 and six, respectively.
