Former Fort Valley State University student-athlete Deborah Jones Rodgers added two prestigious honors to her long list of accomplishments at the recent Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Media Day.
Rodgers was named the 2025-26 SIAC Senior Woman Administrator of the Year and the 2025-26 SIAC Compliance Director of the Year. The awards recognize her outstanding leadership, professionalism, and continued commitment to supporting student-athletes and advancing collegiate athletics.
Rodgers currently serves as the Deputy Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator, and Compliance Director at Tuskegee University, where she plays a vital role in overseeing departmental operations, ensuring NCAA compliance, and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Rodgers graduated from West End High School before attending Fort Valley State University. From 2003 to 2007, she distinguished herself as an exceptional two-sport student-athlete, competing in both basketball and volleyball.
Rodgers served as volleyball team captain for three years and led the SIAC in kills and blocks for three consecutive seasons. She was selected to the All-SIAC volleyball team three times and earned SIAC Volleyball Player of the Year honors, along with numerous Most Valuable Player awards.
Her impact extended to the basketball court, where she served as team captain for two years. Rodgers helped Fort Valley State advance to the SIAC Tournament championship game in three consecutive seasons and was named to the All-SIAC basketball team twice.
In recognition of her outstanding accomplishments, Rodgers was also honored as Fort Valley State's Female Athlete of the Year. She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Rodgers has continued to make an impact in collegiate athletics through administration and compliance. She holds memberships in the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Women Leaders in Sports, and the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA). She has also participated in the Division II Athletic Directors Association Mentoring Institute and previously served as chair of the Athletics Compliance Committee during the 2015-16 academic year.
Her latest SIAC honors reflect a career defined by excellence, first as a championship-level student-athlete and now as one of the conference's most respected athletics administrators. Rodgers' journey from standout Wildcat to award-winning leader continues to serve as an inspiring example of Fort Valley State University's proud tradition of developing champions in competition, in the classroom, and throughout their professional careers.
