By: FVSU Office of Sports Information
The Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University wasted little time establishing their dominance over the conference leading Lady Tigers of Benedict College in their first meeting on January 14th. Played in historic Benjamin Mays Arena on the Benedict campus, the Lady Wildcats turned in their most impressive performance this season.

Offensively, FVSU shot 55.6% in the first half and 51.7% in the second. The 95 points scored by the Lady Wildcats was their highest output for a single game this season. The Lady Wildcats made 35 of 65 shots during the game. Nine of those baskets were three point shots.

Four Lady Wildcats scored in double figures for the game. Shytina Harley led FVSU with 15 points and three rebounds. Jasmine Birdsong finished with 14 points and six rebounds while Yasheeka Jones had 14 points, three assists, and four steals. Freshman Carmenonique Dawson converted four of five three point shots to finish with 12 points.

Defensively, FVSU held the Lady Tigers their lowest, single game point production this season. The Lady Wildcats forced 29 Benedict turnovers and logged 21 steals.

With an overall record of 10-4 and now 7-2 in conference play, the Lady Wildcats will take on another conference foe, the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University, on January 17th at 5:30 p.m. in the Exum Center on the Kentucky State University campus.
