The January 17th basketball game between the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (FVSU) and the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University (KSU) was a re-match of the clash between the teams earlier in the month. In the previous meeting on the FVSU campus, the Thorobreds came away with a 67-58 win.
The second match-up was played on the KSU campus and this time the Wildcats returned the favor with a 90-86 win over the Thorobreds. With the win, FVSU pulls its season record to 6-7 and, more importantly, bumps its conference record to 6-5.
The Wildcat scoring effort was led by point guard
Desmond Lofland who finished with 15 points. Of his total, eight points came from the free throw; including four clutch free throws late in the game to seal the Wildcat win. Forward
Julian McDonald totaled 13 points while Britain Kelly and
Mitchell Dixon had 11 points each. Center
Cecil Bent finished with 10 points.
The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, January 19
th at 6 p.m. (cst) when they travel to Jackson, TN for a conference game with the Dragons of Lane College.
