Wildcats Unable to Exact Revenge Against Blazers

For the second time in less than 10 days, the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (FVSU) fell to the Blazers of Valdosta State University (VSU) in basketball action.  The Blazers defeated the Wildcats on Tuesday, December 11th 82-66 in the HPE Arena on the FVSU campus.  The game was a re-match and an opportunity for the Wildcats to avenge a loss to the Blazers suffered on Dec. 4th on the VSU campus.

Trailing 34-33 at halftime, the Wildcats managed an early lead after the intermission. However, the scant one point advantage was quickly erased by the Blazers who outscored the Wildcats in the game's final 20 minutes 48 to 33.  The Blazers converted 18 of 31 second half shots (58%) compared to 12 of 29 for the Wildcats (41.4%).  Overall, the Blazers shot 50% from the floor; making 30 of 60 shot attempts.  The Wildcats shot 38.8% for the game with 26 made baskets on 38 attempts.

Foward Brandon Davey led the Wildcats in scoring with 12 points and Jeremy Sledge finished with 10.  Josh Sparks led VSU with 23 points and 15 rebounds.  David Murray and James Anacreon added 18 points each.

The Wildcats are now 3-5 on the season and will remain idle until the new year.  FVSU will conference play starting on January 3, 2013 when they host the Dragons of Lane College at 8 p.m. in the HPE Complex.  Men's action will be preceded by the Lady Wildcats hosting the Lady Dragons at 6 p.m.

Tickets for all Wildcat doubleheaders are $10.00 general admission and can be purchased at HPE Ticket Booth starting at 5 p.m. on the day of the games.
