GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN DEFEATED FVSU WILDCATS 79-77 IN OVERTIME

Box Score Fort Valley, GA (November 12, 2013) – Senior forward Brandon Davey (Warner Robins, GA) scored a double-double for The Fort Valley State University Wildcats (0-3) with 23-points and game-highs with 17 rebounds and 7 assist as the team dropped a heart breaker to Georgia Southwestern State University (3-0) 77-79 (OT) Tuesday, November 12 at HPE Complex.

The game was close throughout with 19 ties and the Wildcats down 65-68 with :39 seconds remaining in regulation, senior guard Joshuah Davis (Augusta, GA) drained a 3-pointer to tie the game at 68-68 and send the game to overtime.

In overtime both teams made 3-of-8 shots from the floor for 37.5 percent, FVSU hitting 1-of-2 threes and Georgia Southwestern State making 3-of-4 and FVSU made 2-of-2 free throws to 2-of-4 for GSW.

The Wildcats went to the locker room at the half down 34-35 while hitting just 30.3 percent of their shots from the floor and 66.7 percent from the foul line. Georgia Southwestern State hit 45.8 percent of its shots and 57.1 percent from the foul line. The Wildcats hit 24-of-67 (35.8%) shots for the game, 7-of-18 (38.9%) in 3-pointers, while making 22-of-31 (71.0 %) free throws. Georgia Southwestern State scored on 26-of-62 (41.9%) shots and 23-of-38 (60.5 %) free throws.

Georgia Southwestern State had 51 rebounds to FVSU's 44 rebounds and FVSU had 19 assist to Georgia Southwestern State's 15. FVSU made 7-of-18 shots from behind the arch and Georgia Southwestern State went 4-for-18.

In overtime both teams made 3-of-8 shots from the floor for 37.5 percent, FVSU hit 1-of-2 threes and Georgia Southwestern State made 3-of-4 three pointers and FVSU made 2-of-2 free throws, while Georgia Southwestern State scored on 2-of-4 foul shots.

Davis led the Wildcats in scoring with 26 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. He hit 7-of-12 shots from the floor, made 4-of-6 (3-pointers) and 8-of-10 free throws. Senior forward Nigel Domineck (Atlanta, GA) added 11 points and 7 boards and went 5-for-6 at the free throw line.
Alan Arnett and Darius Redding led Georgia Southwestern State with 20 points apiece and Arnett with 13 rebounds.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, November 19 as they host Carver Bible College at 8 pm in the HPE Complex.
