MILLEDGEVILLE, GA (September 5, 2013) – Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats volleyball team opened the season on the road with a heart breaking 0-3 (4-25, 20-25, 15-25) loss to Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA at Centennial Center on Thursday, September 5 before a crowd of 2,521 fans.

The Lady Wildcats record is 0-1, and Georgia College moves to 1-0 on the season.

Junior middle hitter Briana Shepherd (Birmingham, AL) led the Lady Wildcats with four kills, one assist, one ace, three digs and three blocks (2 BS and 1 BA). Freshman setter Karli Brown (Columbus, GA) ended with eight assist and six digs.

The Lady Wildcats will play in the Columbus State Tournament in Columbus, GA on Friday and Saturday. On Friday FVSU will play Limestone College at 4:30 p.m., then Johnson C. Smith and Columbus State at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
