MORROW, GA (December 3, 2014) – Fort Valley State (1-8) senior center
Brittnee Hazel posted her first double-double of the season while leading the team with a team-high 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the 87-73 loss to Clayton State University (5-2) Wednesday night at Athletics Center.
Hazel made 7-of-14 baskets and went 7-for-9 at the line, while red shirt sophomore
Shereba Montgomery scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Red shirt junior
Tonisha Wilson added 14 points and hit 3-of-4 free throws.
Tiayra Green led Clayton State in scoring and rebounding with 21 points and 7 boards.
FVSU shot 41.4 percent from the field for the first half and 71.4 percent at the line. They made 23-of-60 shots for 38.3 percent for the game, while scoring 25-of-35 foul shots for 71.4 percent shooting.
Clayton State was 14-of-36 in shooting for the first part of the game and went 7-for-11 for 63.6 percent in free throws. The team made 44.9 percent of their shots for the game and 64.5 percent from the foul line.
The Lady Wildcats had 31 turnovers to Clayton State's 23, but FVSU out rebounded Clayton State 49-37.
FVSU's next game is at home as they invite Georgia College & State University to campus on Saturday, December 6 for a 6 p.m. game.
