COLUMBUS, GA (November 14, 2015) – The Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University open the season with losses in the PBC/SIAC Classic in Columbus, as they dropped game one to Columbus State University 41-81 on Friday and Georgia Southwestern University 41-76 Saturday afternoon.
Jayme Gilbert led the Lady Wildcats with 11-points on Saturday while hitting three 3-pointers. Bianca Caldwell made 6-of-6 free throws to add 10-points and a team-high 6 rebounds and dished 3 assist.
Jaquish Sealer scored 20-points for GSW and VaQuenshia Hall chipped in 16-points. Chanice Whitten grabbed a game-high 8 boards.
The Lady Wildcats shot 25.0% (15-60) from the field and made 7-of-10 (70.0%) free throws, while GSW shot just a little better making 25-of-58 (43.1%) baskets and draining 25-of-29 (86.2%) at the foul line.
In the Columbus State game on Friday,
Jayme Gilbert scored 15-points to lead the Lady Wildcats, while making 8-of-10 free throws.
Ricarsha Johnson had a team-high 6 rebounds.
Columbus State had six players to notch double digits and Ashley Asouzu added double-double 12-points and 11 rebounds.
