AMERICUS, GA (November 17, 2015) - Senior center
Ralph Wilson (Americus, GA) showed out for the hometown fans by leading the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University in scoring with 21-points while falling 85-89 to Georgia Southwestern University Tuesday night in Americus.
FVSU drops to 1-2 and Georgia Southwestern moves to 1-0.
Wilson hit 9-of-13 field goals, while making 2-of-3 free throws and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Maritea Duke added a double-double 13-point and game-high 10 rebounds. Duke shot a prefect 5-for-5 from the floor and 3-for-3 from behind the arc, while J.R. Bryant chipped in 12 points and 3 assist.
LeRoy Broner and
Dareial Franklin scored 9-points each, while
Tyler Edwards and
Jaylon McMillan had 6 and 5 points.
Karon Wright led GSW with 22-points and Adam Thoseby had 7 boards.
The Wildcats shot 51.6% (33-64) from the field, made 10-of-21 (47.6) in threes, but made just 9-of-28 (32.1%) free throws. FVSU grabbed 37 rebounds, 13 assist and 9 steals.
GSW made 25-of-55 (45.5%) shots from the floor, hit 13-of-29 (44.8%) trays and made 26-of-36 (72.2%) foul shots. GSW dished out 17 assist and pull down 42 boards.
Next game: The Wildcats will travel to Deland, FL on Monday, November 23 to play Division one foe Stetson University in an exhibition game at 7 pm.
