CENTRAL, SC (February 14, 2015) – Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats Softball Team (0-4) picked up two losses in a twin bill to Southern Wesleyan College (5-2) by a score of 4-10 and 0-3 at Varsity Field.
Crystal Richmond drove in two runs for the Lady Wildcats in game one on one hit,
Hadiyah Walker and
Alexis Ricks added an RBI each.
Ashley Polke, Ricks and
Tatum Maxwell had two hits apiece and
Asia Buckner,
Kenya Shakoor and Richmond chipped in one hit each.
FVSU finished with 9 hits, 4 runs and 3 errors, while Southern Wesleyan had 12 hits and 10 runs.
Alexis Ricks (0-2) gained the loss in a 6 inns while giving up 5 earned runs on 12 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Hoskins (2-0) relieved Parker in the first for the win. Parker gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits in the top half of the first inn and Hoskins had 5 strikeouts and gave up 3 hits in the win.
The Lady Wildcats scored their 4 runs in the first, Southern Wesleyan scored one run in the first, one in the third, tied the game in the fifth with two and added six more runs in the six.
In game two, FVSU gave up a 3-0 decision, while picking up only three hits.
Asia Buckner,
Kenya Shakoor and
Crystal Richmond had one hit each.
Southern Wesleyan put up 3 runs on 3 hit as well.
Richmond (0-1) picked up the loss by giving up 3 earned runs in 0.2 inns on the mound.
Alexis Ricks came in for 5.1 inns, striking out 4 and 2 hits.
Wayne (2-0) picked up the win in 4 inns, with 4 strikeouts and one hit and Wolff (2 save) in 3 inns on 2 hits and 3 strikeouts.
Southern Wesleyan scored all three runs in the bottom half of the first inn. FVSU ended with 3 hits and 2 errors.
The Lady Wildcats return home to host Carson-Newman College in a double hitter on Thursday, February 19 at 1 and 3 p.m.
