JACKSON, TN (January 9, 2016) – Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats was on the second leg of a conference road trip, but founded themselves on the losing end as Lane College defeated the Lady Wildcats 63-58 Saturday afternoon at J. F. Lane Gymnasium.
FVSU dropped to 3-12 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC, while Lane picked up their first win 1-15 and 1-5 in the conference.
Freshman guard
Daknequa White led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 25-points, while making nine of nineteen baskets from the floor and hitting six of eight 3-pointers. Junior forward
Shereba Montgomery grabbed a game-high 15 boards and added 9-points. Senior guard
Jayme Gilbert scored 10-points and junior forward
Briunca Caldwell had 7.
Tashara Jones led the Lady Dragons with 20-points and 10 rebounds and Kyana Johnson hit 14-points.
FVSU made twenty-one of sixty-one (34.4%) shot from the field, seven of twenty trays (35%) and made just nine of twenty-one (42.9%) free throws.
Lane scored on 60.5% (23-38) of their shots, 42.9% (3-7) three-pointers and 41.2% (14-34) at the foul line.
