FORT VALLEY, GA.(January 2, 2016) –
Katice Williams and
Shereba Montgomery ranked up double-doubles and three players put up double digest figures to help lead Fort Valley State to a 66-29 conference win over Kentucky State Saturday afternoon at the HPE Complex .
Williams led FVSU (2-10; 1-2) in scoring with a game-high 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds; Montgomery had a game-high 11 rebounds and added 10 points.
Briunca Caldwell added 12 points,
Jayme Gilbert had 11 and Dakneque White continued with 10 points.
Logan Powell led KSU (7-4; 2-2) with 6 points and Shaia Horton and Aliyah Gipson had 5 rebounds each.
The Lady Wildcats led 37-9 at halftime, while leading 20-6 in the first half and 17-3 in the second. White had 8 points, Montgomery 7, Williams 6 and Gilbert 5 points. Logan Powell had 4 points for the KSU.
FVSU finished the game shooting 41.1 percent from the field. They made 71.4 percent of their free throws, while making one three out of twelve attempts.
KSU made just 19.6 percent of their shots from the floor, while making 47.1 percent at the line.
FVSU out rebounded KSU 54-36, while dishing out 17 assist to 5 and 20 steals to 8. The team largest lead of 37 points came in the fourth quarter with one minute, one second on the clock. The Lady Wildcats outscored KSU 44-16 in the paint, 19-7 off turnovers, 18-2 on second chance shots, and 10-6 on fast breaks.
