MILES BEAT WILDCATS 76-68

FORT VALLEY, GA (January 30, 2016) – The Wildcats of Fort Valley State fell in their quest to win back-to-back games at home with the 68-76 loss to Miles College Saturday afternoon at the HPE Complex.
 
Senior guard Dareial Franklin led the team with 20-points and two blocks. Franklin went nine for 14 from the field, made two three pointers, and one assist. Senior center Ralph Wilson added 12-points and senior forward Maritea Duke had nine points. Freshman guard Tyler Edwards and sophomore point guard J. R. Bryant each dished out four assist.
 
FVSU out rebounded the Golden Bears 40-32 with Franklin's nine leading the way. Duke had seven and Wilson with five.
 
The Wildcats finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field. They hit nine of their 25 three point field goals which included seven of 16 in the first half. The Wildcats only went to the foul line 10 times making seven.   
 
Maiscel Grier led Miles with 22-points. E. Reginald Smalls scored 13-points and J. Samuels had 11-points and Shaquille Cook grabbed nine boards for the Golden Bears.
 
The Golden Bears led by 16 in the first half; FVSU came from behind to take a three point lead 36-33 to halftime. Miles out scored the Wildcats in the paint 32-26, 22-13 off turnovers; fast break points 6-4 and 42-22 from players off the beach, FVSU led 12-8 on second chance baskets.
 
 Miles shot 47.3 percent from the field for the game, making 37.5 percent from behind the three point line and 72 percent from the foul line.
 
Next game: FVSU will hit the road to Albany, GA., as they play the Golden Rams of Albany State University for their homecoming on Saturday, February 6 at 8 p.m.
