Eleven times a lifetime of memories cannot be captured in an evening. However in an evening planned with care and understanding, you can pay tribute to those who created them. The 2016 inductees into the Fort Valley State Sports Hall of Fame came together to be saluted and remembered for their efforts on behalf of the blue and gold. One by one each new member had their accomplishments celebrated. Their biographies and in some cases photographs were displayed for all who gathered to show just how special they were and are.
When they were given an opportunity to speak for themselves, the new members spoke of their younger days as if they were yesterday and rekindled the feelings that brought tears and laughter. They spoke of teammates and former coaches who inspired them. The inductees also noted family members and loved ones who gave them needed support that made the difference in their lives.
Head Women's Basketball Coach
Lonnie Bartley and former Athletics Director Mrs. Gwendolyn Reeves (also a HOF member) and the HOF committee are to be commended for putting together an evening of remembrance to honor those who left their mark on the Wildcat Nation.
This was the third induction ceremony and the room was filled with loved ones, friends and members of the FVSU family. The evening was hosted by legendary businessman, comedian and friend of FVSU Mr. Jacko Davis who kept the evening light and festive, but the night belong to the new HOF members who once again provided Wildcat Nation with inspiration and a reason to love Fort Valley State University.
