FRANKFORT, KY (December 31, 2016) – Fort Valley State University Wildcats (3-8; 1-1) basketball team has dropped three games in a row since the break while falling 118-95 to Kentucky State University (3-9; 2-3) Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.
Junior forward
James Barnes (Columbus, GA) led FVSU with a double-double 16-points and team-high 10 rebounds. He made 8-of-15 baskets, one assist, two blocks and three steals. Senior point guard
Jalen Crawford (Detroit, MI) scored 14 and dished out a team-high five assist. Senior forward
Dareial Franklin (Gadsden, AL) and junior guard
Jamaal Garror (Conyers, GA) added 13 and 11 points.
Malcolm Smith led KSU with a game-high 34 points and Dorian Jordan connected with 28. Reggie Breeden put together a double-double 24 points and 16 rebounds.
The Wildcats made 37-of-86 shots from the field, sank 10-of-37 three pointers, 11-of-17 foul shots and pulled in 45 rebounds. KSU scored on 45-of-77 baskets, 8-of-17 three's and 20-of-30 free throws, while grabbing 44 rebounds.
The Wildcats will play Central State University in Wilberforce, OH on Monday, January 1 at 8 pm.
