FVSULADY WILDCATS UPSET LADY RAMS 65-63

ALBANY, GA (February 6, 2016) – Senior forward Shereba Montgomery scored a double-double to help lead Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats (8-14; 7-6) to a 65-63 win over the Lady Rams of Albany State University (10-11; 10-3) Saturday night at the Albany State Gymnasium.
 
FVSU went to halftime down 29-30 on the back of Montgomery and Daknequa White each having eight points and senior guard Katice Williams pacing the Lady Wildcats with seven boards. The Lady Wildcats shot 33.3 percent from the field and 80 percent at the foul line in the first half.
 
Montgomery and Williams finished with double-doubles; Montgomery led the Lady Wildcats with game-high 18-points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She went six for ten from the field, six for twelve at the free throw line and blocked three shots.  Williams had twelve points and ten rebounds and White added 17- points.
 
FVSU grabbed 45 rebounds to ASU's 39, but turned the basketball over 21 times to 18. FVSU scored 34-points to 28 in the paint over ASU, while giving up 23-points to 11 off turnovers, 17-points to 15 on second chance shots, six to two on fast breaks.
 
Keidra Green led ASU with 16-points and Artisha Holston adding a double game-high 11 rebounds and 13-points. Ieshia Young added 10-points.
 
FVSU made 22-of-56 (39.3%) from the field, three of 15 (20%) from behind the arc and 18of 32 (56.3%) free throws.  ASU scored on 23-of-58 (39.7%) baskets, five-of-13 threes and 12-of-27 (44.4%) fouls shots.
