FORT VALLEY, GA (January 21, 2017) – Fort Valley State University Wildcats (7-10; 5-3) basketball team went down to Benedict College (10-7; 7-1) 72-64 on Saturday afternoon at the HPE Complex.
 
James Barnes led the Wildcats in scoring with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kris Bell, Jalen Crawford and Dareial Franklin put up 11 points each. Franklin had a team-high eight boards.
 
The Wildcats made 28-of-64 (43.8 percent) shots from the field, while hitting 5-of-9 free throws. FVSU out rebounded BC 40-25. BC hit 28-of-50 (56.0 percent) baskets, hitting 6-of-13 three pointers and 10-of-19 shots at the charity line.
 
Benedict was led by Quayshun Hawkins with 23 points and Christopher Spencer had nine rebounds.
