AMERICUS, GA – The Fort Valley State University women's basketball team opened the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)/Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Challenge with a 95-54 loss to Columbus State University on Friday afternoon at the Storm Dome.
The Lady Wildcats dropped to 0-4 on the season, while the Cougars are now 2-0 on the year.
FVSU's
Alicia Franklin led the team with a game-high 21-points while making 6-of-14 field goals, 5-of-10 three pointers and hitting 4-of-6 free throws.
Nola Carter paced the Lady Wildcats with a double-double and game-high 11 rebounds and 11-points. Carter also made 3-of-4 baskets from the foul line.
Tatiana Wayne and Machala Raymonville led the Cougars in scoring with 16-points each, while Jasmine Herndon grabbed nine rebounds.
FVSU hit 35 percent (18-52) of its baskets, 33 percent (8-24) in three-point shots and scored 10-of-19 (53 percent) free throws.
The Lady Wildcats turned the ball over 31 times to Columbus State's 17 and grabbed 26 rebounds to the Cougars 45.
The Lady Wildcats will play Georgia Southwestern University on Saturday, November 18 at 7 pm at the Storm Dome.
