WEST HITS DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN LADY WILDCATS LOSS TO KENTUCKY STATE

FRANKFORT, KY – Fort Valley State's Kaylan West led four Lady Wildcats in double digest as she posted a double-double in the 79-52 loss to the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University on Saturday evening at the Exum Center on Kentucky State's campus.
 
FVSU is still looking for their first win of the season as they fall to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). Kentucky State picked up their first win and moved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
 
West led the team with a team-high 11 rebounds and posted 11-points while making 3-of-4 baskets from the foul line. Nola Carter and Alicia Franklin produced14-points apiece and Keaundra Cox added 10-points. Carter played 20 minutes before fouling out. She scored on 6-of-12 shots from the floor, 2-of-4 at the foul line, dished two assists and added three steals. Franklin made 8-of-12 free throws and two assists, while Cox went 4-of-6 at the line and grabbed four rebounds. Antonia Jones added three points and three boards.
 
Brittani Rizzi led the Thorobrette's with 18-points and Brooke Wallace grabbed 12 rebounds.
 
The Lady Wildcats managed just 33 rebounds to KUS's 57 and turned the ball over 15 times to their 20. FVSU made 15-of-64 (23.4 percent) shots from the field, 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) 3-point shots and hit 17- of-26 (65.4 percent) free throws.
 
FVSU went to halftime down 29-42 and never led during the game. The team hit 14-points in the paint, 14-points off turnovers, five points off second chance shots and just 14-points from bench players.
 
FVSU will travel to Wilberforce, OH to play Central State University on Monday, November 27 in a 5:30 contest.
