Box Score WILBERFORCE, OH – The Fort Valley State University women's basketball team had a rough outing in Ohio as they fell 87-54 to Central State University Monday night at the Beacom/Lewis Gym on Central State's campus.
The Lady Wildcats overall record is 0-8 and 0-2 in the SIAC, while Central State improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
FVSU went to halftime down 27-48. The Lady Wildcats never led in the game and fell behind by as many as 41-points in the fourth quarter. The team hit 34-points in the paint, gained 10-points off turnovers, 13-points came off second chance shots, eight on fast breaks and 18-points from bench players.
The Lady Wildcats hit 21-of-61 (34.4 percent) shots from the floor, made 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) 3-pointers and scored on 20-of-28 (71.4 percent) foul shots.
Nola Carter led the team with a team-high 14-points, four assists and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Alicia Franklin added 11-points, six boards, two assists and two steals.
Kaylan West chipped in with eight points and six rebounds, while
Antonia Jones and
Amiah Height added six points each.
Sierra Herley scored 18-points to lead Central State in scoring and Destinee Russell had six rebounds.
Next game: FVSU will return home for a five game home stand starting with the Tigers of Benedict College on Thursday, November 30 at the HPE Complex on FVSU's campus. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
