EMBRY-RIDDLE DEFEATED THE WILDCATS 87-80

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Tyler Edwards led four Fort Valley State University Wildcats in double digits in the 87-80 loss to non-conference foe Embry-Riddle College Monday Night at the ICI Center on Embry-Riddle's campus.
 
FVSU fell to 7-6 overall on the season, while ERC improved their overall record to 5-6.
 
Edwards led the Wildcats with 19-points, hit one three pointer and went a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Walter Foster had a team-high nine rebounds, added 17-points and scored 3-of-3 shots from the line. Jamaal Garror and J. R. Bryant contributed 12 and 10 points each, while Jaylon McMillan dished out a team-high five assists.
 
Ognjen Miljkovic had 28-points and 10 rebounds for ERC, while Nashad Mackey posted a double-double 12-points and 12 boards.  
 
ERC scored first for the 0-2 lead. Edwards' jumper tied the game at 2-2. McMillan's 3-pointer gave FVSU their first lead at 6-4. The game went back and forth with ERC taking no more than a three point lead and FVSU leading by 5 (38-33) with .51 seconds left to halftime. Edwards' layup with eight seconds left increased the score to 40-35. Jenkins' 3-pointer cut the lead to 2 (40-38) as the Wildcats went to intermission up by two.
 
FVSU went on a 6-0 run to make the score 44-38 after coming from the locker room. ERC tied the game at 50-50, then the Wildcats made it 57-52. The Eagles would not go away as they cut the lead to 61-60 with 11:35 remaining in the game. Edwards' dunk and Glenn Hollaway's two free throws made the score 67-63 with 8:47 left. With 7:17 on the clock, ERC re-gained the lead for good at 70-67 on Miljkovic's three pointer.
 
This was a very close hard fought game with eight ties and 12 lead changes. FVSU managed only 29 rebounds, while hitting 48-points in the paint, 11-points off turnover, 18-points off fast breaks and 15-points from players off the bench.
 
The Wildcats will not return to action until December 29th when they travel to Memphis, Tn., to play the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College at 7:30 p.m.
