FORT VALLEY, GA – The Fort Valley State University Women's Basketball Team suffered their 11
th loss of the season against the University of North Georgia, 71-51, Monday evening at the HPE Complex on Fort Valley State's Campus.
The Lady Wildcats dropped to 0-11 on the season and the Nighthawks increased their overall record to 6-1.
Keaundra Cox led the game off with a jumper for 2-0, then North Georgia came back with two for the tie, 2-2. FVSU took the lead, 6-5, on
Nola Carter's layup with 6:06 left in the quarter. FVSU then went down by 7, 16-9, in the first quarter.
However, an 11-2 run helped the Nighthawks jump out to a 25-11 lead. Before long, the lead jumped to 16, 32-16, with 2:01 remaining in the first half. FVSU trailed 22-34 at intermission.
North Georgia increased their lead to as many as 21-points in the third and fourth quarters and the Lady Wildcats would not get any closer.
Alicia Franklin led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 15-points.
Nola Carter had a double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds and 14-points while hitting 6-of-8 free throws. Cox added nine points, seven rebounds and went 4-of-6 at the foul line.
Mackenzie Darrah hit 19-points to lead North Georgia and Julianne Sutton posted 12 rebounds.
FVSU's next home game is scheduled for December 13
th as Clayton State University comes to the Valley. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
