Box Score ALBANY, GA – The Fort Valley State University men's basketball team won their final regular season game on the road with an 87-65 win over the Rams of Albany State University Saturday night in Albany.
The Wildcats overall record moves to 14-12 and in conference play 11-5, as they prepare to travel to Birmingham for the SIAC basketball championship tournament. The Rams drop to 10-15 overall and 5-10 in the SIAC.
Senior center
Kris Bell led three Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 16 points, four boards and draining 4-of-4 free throws. Senior forward
Denard Williams led the team in rebounds with seven, while senior point guard
Jalen Crawford and senior guard
Ray Mobley added 11 points each. Junior guard
James Barnes collected 10 points. FVSU out rebounded ASU 51-37, while forcing the Rams into 10 turnovers. FVSU scored 12 points off turnovers and another 48 points in the paint and the bench players dropped 44 points.
The Wildcats made 34-72 (47.2%) shots from the floor, 6-of-16 (37.5%) 3-pointers and hit 13-of-21 (61.9%) free throws. ASU went 27-of-64 (42, 2%) from the field, 21.1% (4-of-19) from behind the arc and 43.8% (7-of-16) foul shots.
Michael Green led ASU in scoring with 15 points and Brandon Hudson added 13 points. Jayson Snearl pulled down eight boards.
The next game for FVSU will be in Birmingham at the SIAC basketball championship tournament on February 27 at the Bill Harris Basketball Arena.
