FORT VALLEY, GA – The Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats softball team dropped a doubleheader to Claflin University 23-1 and 11-0 at Wildcat Field on Saturday.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Game 1: Claflin 23, Fort Valley State 1
Game 2: Claflin 11, Fort Valley State 0
Record: Claflin (17-14; 7-2), Fort Valley State (3-18; 3-10)
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
Claflin scored 13 runs in their half of the second inning off nine hits and two errors. They added an additional run in the third and seven more in the fourth after getting six hits.
The Lady Panthers completed their scoring in the fifth with two runs.
Tavyonne Dallis scored Fort Valley State's only run in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
Brianna Jackson (0-6) pitched five innings and allowed 23 runs (21 earned), 17 hits and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
The Lady Panthers scored first with four runs in the first inning. They increased the lead by one in the third. Then, in the fourth and fifth innings Claflin produced three runs in each inning for the final 11-0 score.
Tenia Johnson (3-11) surrendered 11 runs (nine earned), 10 hits and one strikeout in five innings.

The Lady Wildcats will play Claflin University in a single game on Sunday, March 26 at Wildcat Field. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
