FORT VALLEY STATE VOLLEYBALL TEAM FELL TO BENEDICT AND ALBANY STATE

FORT VALLEY, GA – The Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University volleyball team played two hard and tuff matches against the Lady Tigers of Benedict College and the Lady Rams of Albany State University as the team fell to Benedict 1-3(14-25, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25) and Albany State 0-3 (18-25, 19-25, 16-25) at the HPE Complex on Fort Valley State's campus.
 
Maya Stewart led the Lady Wildcats in the Benedict game with 10 kills, 16 digs and had one block assist. Rita Davis had 16 assist and three digs, Ashaunti Brown followed with six kills, eight digs and three block assist, while Ayauna Ellis showed with five solo blocks and three block assist. Justice Stegall added three kills, two solo blocks and one block assist, while Jordan Davis and Alana Joseph added eight and nine digs.
 
In the Albany State match Maya Stewart led FVSU with 12 kills while adding five digs, one solo block and one block assist. Rita Davis hustle earned her 28 assist and seven digs, Alana Joseph added seven kills, two digs, one solo block and one block assist, Ashaunti Brown dropped seven kills on the Lady Rams along with seven digs and two block assist. Ayauna Ellis made five kills,two solo blocks and one block assist while Jordan Davis led the Lady Wildcats with 16 digs and Justice Stegall added one kill and three block assist.
 
The Lady Wildcats will travel to Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, September 21 and go through Saturday as they play in the SIAC Volleyball Crossover at the Cross Plex.
 
Next home game is Sunday, October 1 as the Tigers of Edward Waters College come a calling in a 1 p.m. contest.
