FORT VALLEY, GA – After winning two conference matches in Birmingham over the weekend the Lady Wildcats figured they would carry the wins over into this evening's match. This was not the case, the Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta had other ideas and walked away with a 3-0 (25-19, 27-25, 25-15) victory over the Lady Wildcats at the Health & Physical Education Complex (HPE) on the campus of Fort Valley State.
Fort Valley State dropped to 3-10 overall and 2-8 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) while Clark Atlanta improved to 6-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Maya Stewart and
Alana Joseph tied for the team leader in kills with six. Joseph added five digs,
Rita Davis chipped in 15 assists and
Ashley Simmons-Blair hit the floor digging 13 balls.
Ashaunti Brown had three kills, two digs, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
Justice Stegall knocked down one block while assisting with three other blocks and three kills.
Cory Griffith had one solo block and two more assisted blocks.
Ashley Elmore led the Lady Panthers with nine digs, two aces and two solo blocks.
The Lady Wildcats will host Edward Waters College on Monday, October 2 at 6 pm at the HPE Complex on the campus of FVSU.
