CLEVELAND, Tenn. – It was another top South Region foe for the Wildcats Saturday afternoon. Lee University used runs at the end of first two quarters and defeated Fort Valley State women's basketball, 89-50.

After the Flames (6-2) netted the opening seven points, Alicia Franklin drained a trey and a few minutes later Torri Myers added one of her own as the Wildcats (1-8) were back to within 11-6. Myers made a pair of free
throws to make it 13-8 with 2:53 in the first stanza, but Lee posted the final eight points for a 21-8 margin and led by double digits for the final 30 minutes.

Nola Carter and Amiah Height netted 12 points apiece to lead FVSU. Carter handed out three assists and Height dropped a trio of 3-pointers and grabbed five rebounds. Myers finished as the third Wildcat double figure scorers with 10 points.

Lee saw Abby Bertram and Becca Cheeks both put in 16 points for the home team. The Flames won the board battle, 47-29, and held the Wildcats to only 30.4% from the field.

Height started the second quarter with her first triple to make it 21-11. A Franklin trey and two Nyah Dismukes free throws pulled the Wildcats to within 12 points, 26-14 and 28-16, before the Flames ended the quarter by scoring 15 of the final 18 points.

FVSU will now be off until it travels to Tuskegee next Saturday, Dec. 15, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. Tip time is 1 p.m.
