Alicia Franklin led all scorers with a game-high 17-points in Fort Valley State University (FVSU) (4-23) 66-45 loss to Miles College (MC) (9-20) Monday evening to close out the season at the Bill Harris Arena.
Franklin grabbed seven rebounds, hit 5-of-6 free throws while making 5-of-22 shots from the field and 2-of-9 three-pointers.
Nola Carter added 11-points, six rebounds and made 7-of-9 foul shots.
Jalin Moye grabbed a team-high nine rebounds while blocking six shots.
FVSU hit a low 21.8 percent from the floor, 15.4 percent from behind the arc and 55.9 percent at the free throw line. MC made 37.9 % from the field, 50 % in three-pointers and 57.1 % of their foul shots.
The Lady Wildcats never led in the game while MC went up by 23 in the third quarter with 3:46 left. The Lady Bears grabbed 48 rebounds to FVSU's 46 and both teams turned the ball over more than 20 plus times each.
MC jumped out to as much as eight points in the first quarter then Carter's made two foul shots to cut the lead to three with 2:32 left in the quarter. The second quarter, MC managed to increase their lead by 20 with.55 second left to intermission. FVSU went to halftime down 20-36.
The third and fourth quarters ended up the same as the other two quarters with the Lady Wildcats not being able to stop the bleeding. The closest FVSU would get in the fourth quarter would be 14-points at the 7:18 mark.
