FVSU Welcomes Albany State for “Battle of the Blue and Gold” Saturday Night

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – It's rivalry night in HPE Arena! Fort Valley State welcomes Albany State for the "Battle of the Blue and Gold" Saturday night, Jan. 12, in a basketball doubleheader.

The Wildcats women take to the court first at 6 p.m., while the men follow with an approximate 8 p.m. tip time.

The FVSU ticketing office is announcing special ticket prices for the rivalry game. Individual floor seats will be $40 and General Admission tickets will be $20. Military personnel with ID can get their tickets for $18, while children ages 6-12 are $10 with free admission to children under 5. Buy your tickets now ahead of time HERE

Women's Game
Albany State (5-11/4-3 SIAC) vs. Fort Valley State (2-12/2-5 SIAC) – 6 p.m.

Both teams come off losses at Spring Hill College. The Golden Rams dropped a 77-67 decision last Saturday, before the Wildcats fell 76-52.

FVSU aims to snap a five-game home losing streak against Albany State in the HPE Arena. The Wildcats secured its last win on its home court against the Golden Rams by a 77-60 final in the Feb. 23, 2013 meeting. Albany State picked up an 82-56 win last Feb. 10, 2018.

Men's Game
Albany State (6-11/5-2 SIAC) vs. Fort Valley State (3-15/2-5 SIAC) – 8 p.m.

FVSU produced its best outing of the year on Monday night in a sound 105-97 victory at Spring Hill College, behind Jaylon McMillan's career-best 40 points. Albany State edged a win last Saturday, 76-74, at Spring Hill, before it faltered by a 62-52 margin at Emmanuel College on Tuesday evening.

The two men's hoops rivals have split the last two meetings played on the FVSU HPE Arena floor. The Golden Rams snuck a 76-68 win last spring (Feb. 10), while the Wildcats grabbed a close 74-70 decision the prior season (Feb. 18, 2017).
