10/1/2019 4:49:00 PM

ATLANTA, Ga. – Coming off the Wildcats best offensive performance in the past two seasons, Fort Valley State quarterback Slade Jarman earned the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week award announced on Tuesday.

The senior from Pensacola, Fla., guided the Wildcats (2-2) offense to a tune of 532 yards of total offense and FVSU's first 50-point outburst since October of 2017 in the 50-16 victory over Benedict College last Saturday night.

The BOXTOROW National Player of the Week, Jarman, posted his best game of his Wildcat career with six touchdown passes, including four coming as part of a 29-point second quarter. He connected on 25 of 43 pass attempts for 391 yards through the air. The Wildcat signal-caller started slowly with a tough opening frame of four completions of his opening 13 attempts for only 22 yards. He regrouped for 21 of 30 covering 369 and six scores over the final two-and-a-half quarters. Jarman also ran eight times for 19 yards to give him 410 yards of total offense on the night.

On the season, Jarman leads the SIAC with 989 yards (247.2 yards per game) over the opening four weeks. He also has 10 touchdowns to three interceptions with a 135.91 pass efficiency rating and a 60.0 completion percentage (87 of 145). Scrambling from the pocket, Jarman has 97 rushing yards on 39 tries with one score.

Jarman and FVSU will have their hands full this coming weekend in a 7 p.m. Saturday night, Oct. 5, against Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla.
