Franklin Repeats All-SIAC Women’s Basketball Selection

ATLANTA, Ga. – The mighty Wildcats guard earned a repeat season honor. Fort Valley State's Alicia Franklin earned All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection and moved up to the Second Team announced on Sunday night.
 
Franklin went from last year's All-SIAC Honorable Mention squad last year, followed it with an All-SIAC Preseason team pick and now voted to the Second Team in this her junior season.

SIAC East champion Benedict College's super sophomore Ay'Anna Bey earned the league's Player of the Year and its head coach James Rice the Coach of the Year. Tuskegee's Alexis Carter garnered both the Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards, while Raegan Jackson of Clark Atlanta was the Freshman of the Year.
 
The third-year Wildcat led the team in scoring for the second year in a row 365 points in 25 games for a 14.6-point average. She downed a Conference-best 2.56 treys per game (64 3-pointer made) and ranked in amongst the leaders in 3-point percentage (
302). Franklin added 112 rebounds (4.5 rpg), 47 assists and 37 steals.
 
The junior helped FVSU down Albany State at home with a career-high 35-point night, including 8 of 15 from 3-point land. The Atlanta native added 10 games
17-plus points and hit three or more 3-pointers in 11 games.
 
In her first three seasons covering 74 games, Franklin has totaled 884 points (11.9 ppg) to go with 260 rebounds (3.5 rpg), 114 assists (1.5 apg) and 99 steals (1.3 spg).
 
FVSU and Franklin opens its post season play on Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, against Spring Hill College in the SIAC First Round. Tip time is set for 3:15 p.m. CST/4:15 EST in the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
