FORT VALLEY, Ga. – After missing 10 games behind the plate, Keteria Loney came back strong this weekend. Loney blasted a two-run and helped Fort Valley State complete the three-game sweep of Paine College with a 14-0 win in five innings on Sunday afternoon.

Leading 3-0 in the bottom of the first, Loney belted a two-run an estimated 235 feet over the left field fence to score Sara Lann, who had singled. The Wildcats (10-14/7-5 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) went on to plate 10 runs in the frame. Kayla Brown doubled and race home on an inside-the-park home run off the bat of Tanami Owens also as part of the double-digit run outburst.

Loney finished the day 3-for-3 with a double and single to go with the two-run and four RBI. The junior catcher was a perfect 5-for-5 combined from games two and three with six RBI.

was 3-for-3 herself with three singles, two runs and two RBI. Janelle Cockerham, Tanami Owens and Kayla Brown each doubled and singled.

Cockerham and Re'Nesha Goolsby combined for the third shutout of the weekend. The two FVSU pitchers allowed five singles, while they walked one and fanned seven.

FVSU stays at home for a Wednesday, April 3, against Brewton-Parker. First pitch set for 1 p.m.
