FVSU Women’s Hoops Looks to Continue Success Against Tigers

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats have liked the calendar changing to 2020 thus far. Fort Valley State women's basketball looks to continue its January success when it hosts Savannah State in Saturday's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division action.

The Wildcats (8-8/4-3 SIAC East) resolution for the New Year have been kept in the opening three games with victories, including a pair of SIAC wins at Kentucky State (55-52) on Jan. 4 and last weekend's 76-68 overtime win at Clark Atlanta. The team followed with a going-away Wednesday night win over Carver College, 100-77.
 
The Tigers (7-4/2-4 SIAC East) come in on a run of success themselves with wins in three of their last four contests. In January, Savannah State is 2-1 with wins over Coastal Georgia (Jan. 6), 88-80, and Thursday night's 83-52 victory at Morris College. Last Saturday, the Tigers were bested by the Dragons of Lane College in a tight result, 69-68.
 
FVSU aims to go over the .500 mark for the first time in January for six years. The Wildcats went to 10-9 with a win on Jan. 27, 2014 over Claflin University, 73-67.
