The Wildcats (8-9/4-4 SIAC East) fell short for the first time in January last Saturday afternoon in a 78-65 decision to the Tigers of Savannah State. The FVSU loss snapped a three-game win streak for the team.

FVSU tries to start another winning run in the matchup with Spring Hill. The Badgers (5-12/4-4 SIAC West) prevailed in both the regular season (76-52 in Mobile last Jan. 7) and in the SIAC Tournament First Round (67-62). In the post season, the Wildcats pushed the Badgers to the limit and were within one score in the final minute. Nola Carter and Alicia Franklin paced FVSU with 19 and 12 points in that contest.

After finishing 12-16 a year ago, Spring Hill College is having a tougher year at this point. Miles College picked up the win at Spring Hill Monday night, 64-44. In fact, the Badgers have claimed one win in its last five contests and are 2-4 so far in January. The home team's last win came last Saturday (Jan. 18) in a 60-51 decision over LeMoyne-Owen.
