Wildcats Look to Right Ship Against Rival Golden Rams

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats hit two speed bumps in the past two contests, but a rivalry renews focus many times. Fort Valley State looks to right its ship on Saturday evening at Albany State on the women's basketball court.

The Wildcats (8-10/4-5 SIAC East) battled back Wednesday night, but they were unable to make it over the hump in an 82-71 loss to the Badgers of Spring Hill College. The Golden Rams (3-14/2-8 SIAC East) had the same fate their last two contests with last falling on Monday night at Benedict, 72-63.
 
The two rivals split last year's series with each winning on its home court – FVSU won at home (80-69) on Jan. 12, before ASU pulled out a 68-45 decision to wrap up the regular season (Feb. 16). The Wildcats did win in Rams Arena two years ago (Jan. 20, 2018) in a close 66-65 final.
 
FVSU started the 2020 schedule with three-straight victories (at Kentucky State, at Clark Atlanta and Carver) before it came up short against Savannah State and at Spring Hill.
 
ASU has fell in five of its last six contests. Its lone win came in a 66-55 score versus Miles College on Jan. 16.
 
FVSU stands a game out of second place in the SIAC East at 4-5, while ASU sits in sixth place at 2-8.
